The summer months are here, and blood donations are trending 27% lower than hospital demand due to school breaks, summer travel, busy schedules, and extreme temperatures.
The warmer weather also brings an increase in accidents and trauma-related injuries, straining an already lean blood supply. Nearly 25% of trauma patients will require blood transfusions for treatment.
