Rhode Island Blood Center is proud to recognize Mount Pleasant High School students Chanel and Jariel, who each donated eight pints of blood during their high school careers — becoming the first students from their school to reach the incredible gallon donation milestone.
Chanel remained determined to make history as her school’s first gallon graduate, demonstrating remarkable perseverance throughout her donation journey. Even after experiencing low-iron deferrals, she continued donating whenever eligible, including visits to the Providence Donor Center outside of school blood drives. Her commitment and determination never wavered.
Jariel also showed outstanding dedication after realizing in January that he was close to reaching the gallon milestone. To help achieve his goal before graduation, he switched from making single whole blood donations to a double red cell donation, allowing him to cross the finish line and reach the milestone.
Together, Chanel and Jariel have already made a meaningful lifesaving impact on patients throughout the community. Their generosity, persistence, and leadership set a powerful example for future student donors and demonstrate how young donors can make an extraordinary difference through regular blood donation.
