Dunkin’ Donuts & RI Blood Celebrate Blood Donor Month
Throughout the month of January, all presenting blood donors at Rhode Island Blood Center locations will receive $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards.
Dunkin’ Donuts is once again showing its appreciation for local blood donors with its DD Donors program. Through Jan. 31, as part of National Blood Donor Month, all presenting donors at Rhode Island Blood Center’s six donor centers and mobile blood drives will receive a $5 DD Card.
In addition to providing $5 gift cards to presenting donors during the month of January, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts host a number of community blood drives every year. In 2017 alone, Dunkin’ Donuts sponsored a total of 147 blood drives, helping to collect more than 2,200 donations.
“Donating blood is, quite simply, giving someone the gift of life,” said Dunkin’ Donuts Rhode Island franchisee Joe Prazeres. “We are always proud to support Rhode Island Blood Center’s work, and we hope our DD Donors program will help encourage more of our neighbors to donate blood.”
The Rhode Island Blood Center needs to collect more than 200 donations every day to fulfill the needs of the patients and hospitals it serves in Rhode Island and throughout Southern New England.
“Ensuring our donations remain consistent during the cold winter season is absolutely vital to our mission of providing hospitals with the life-saving supplies they need. Every January, Dunkin’ Donuts’ support provides new and existing donors a little extra motivation to bundle up, brave the colder weather and keep saving lives,” said Kara LeBlanc, communications manager of RIBC. “As an organization, we are incredibly grateful to our donors and to Dunkin’ not only in January, but all year long.”
