Drink

Drink lots of healthy fluids.

Drink plenty of healthy fluids (water, juice, non-caffeinated beverages) the day before donation. Drink 16 oz of water or juice about 20 minutes before giving for the best experience. Hydrating the day before is also good. Try 64 oz of healthy fluids.

Eat

Eat regular meals.

Make sure you are not donating on an empty stomach. Eat regular meals the day of donation -- breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sleep

Sleep well.

Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep the night before donating.

Photo ID

Bring a photo ID.

Don’t forget to bring your driver’s license or another form of identification when you donate. Regular donors can simply show their blood donor card.

Clothing

Wear practical clothing.

Make sure you wear a shirt with sleeves that can be rolled up or one that provides easy access to your arm.
